We will focus on the continued development of our support services, expanding the breadth of our Legal and Advocacy services, enhancing our wellness services within Arc Sport whilst investigating new areas of support for students. We will continue to implement and grow new support services like Here to Hear and Stress Less Week.
We will make it easier for you to engage with us, whilst looking for new ways for you to access our services.
We want to be there for you before you even know it or need it, representing your interests across a broad range of interests. If you do get into trouble or have questions, we will be there for you. We will continue to provide legal and academic advocacy advice independent of the University. We will stay abreast of issues affecting students and increase our support in those areas. We will streamline accessibility to our services.
Arc has the ability to link like-minded students, and we believe in the power of the collective, that groups of passionate and committed students can affect positive change together. We will make sure our Board, Student Representative Council and Postgraduate Council are accessible. We will work to provide them with support to campaign more effectively with the goal of improving student life at university.
We will support the groups that make-up our University from Post Grads to International students. We will celebrate what makes us diverse and find new ways of supporting groups on campus.
We will continue to support our volunteer programs such as Volunteer Army, Walama Muru and Global Village, with the goal of creating global citizens whilst supporting our community.
From grabbing a free cupcake at The White House birthday, playing bubble soccer at Festival of Sport, attending a club event or wearing a onesie for a Roundhouse party, events and activities form a massive part of the student experience. Arc facilitates over 2,000 events each year and we want to continue to provide events that you want, we will innovate and adopt ideas early with a distinctive UNSW flair, to make sure you love uni life.
We want Arc membership to be fun. We want you to use it to keep some money in your pocket by giving you on and off campus discounts, but mostly we want you to use it as the start of a conversation with us. Membership is the beginning of our relationship (it’s our first date) it can lead to clubs, volunteering, parties, events, activities, representation and more. Membership satisfaction is important to us, it’s currently over 90%(!!) and we want to get even closer to 100%.
From the function spaces in the Roundhouse, to getting a burger in the UniBar, grabbing coffee from The White House or planning a Club event in the new Clubs Space, we want our student spaces to be versatile, exciting and relevant to you.
We also want you to know that every dollar spent at our venues goes back into making your student experience better, so it’s in our best interest to make sure these are the types of places you want to be.
We know we can’t do everything ourselves so we want to work with the best partners who can help us enhance your university experience. Our relationships will be based on many things, but in the end these relationships will decide what beer is served at the UniBar, what band plays the Roundhouse, what community Global Village visits, everything plays a part, and finding partners that believe in us and our vision will be a key goal.
Our clubs are pretty great, they represent a broad mix of interests, from large to small, eclectic to mainstream. We know clubs are one of the most valued parts of our organisation and we will continue to work towards making them better, supporting them, resourcing them, even buying baked goods from them and valuing their contribution to student life. Each club is a unique proposition working for a community within UNSW, we are committed to making them better, maintaining their relevance and making sure they stay awesome.
We aim to develop more opportunities for personal, social and professional growth. More volunteer positions along with more training and development. We will also strive to continue to reduce and eliminate any roadblocks that may effect your interactions with Arc.
We will provide a diverse range of highly valued opportunities for volunteering, bringing students together to make a tangible impact upon the student and local communities. We will actively work to increase the amount of opportunities enabling more students to be involved year on year.
We are serious about providing real opportunities within a structured framework to enhance your experience. We won’t shy away from the frank conversations that help students develop. Arc wants to equip and assist our student staff and volunteers for the future, providing opportunities for students to grow their skills ultimately enhancing their employability and transferable skills. Skills that will not only assist in landing that first job but skills that will last careers. We will communicate the benefits of involvement in volunteering, clubs and representative councils whilst looking for continued recognition of these activities from UNSW. We will also prioritise hiring UNSW students within Arc itself.
We commit to consistently working towards strengthening and evolving our relationship with UNSW. We will be a competitive advantage for UNSW. We know we will have our differences but we will face any differences of opinion backed by the trust and mutual respect we have built between our two organisations since the inception of Arc.
We want to make wise choices. We will be innovative and creative, making sure we investigate new trends and technologies to improve our sustainability and look to manage our impact on the environment. We will actively try to work with partners that prioritise sustainability whilst looking for new opportunities and programs to engage students in.
Our people are our greatest strength; they are the heart of our organisation. Arc has ambition and it is only through the development and support of our people enabling them to reach both their personal and professional goals, that will see these goals met. Developing, supporting and institutionalising a high performance culture will ensure that our organisation is populated by people who share our vision, who respect each others work and share the burden and celebrate the successes together.
Our long term success in only possible if our offering remains relevant and valued within the student community. Our governance structure ensures that we are student led and student driven, an ongoing tangible link to our core demographic that we must celebrate and use to our ongoing advantage, whilst also consistently reviewing for potential improvement. We want to be the first choice for any new student opportunities, space or resources on campus continually expanding our presence and relevance.
We will seek to maintain university funding whilst growing and diversifying our commercial revenues in line with our financial strategy. We will make researched and thoughtful financial decisions that ensure the viability of our long term goals whilst implementing a risk framework to protect our organisation. We will also continually increase our investment back into student services year on year expanding and enhancing our services.
